I had by this time sant the following signal to all MTB's wost of Abordeon Island quietly 1950/25" and they arrived about 2115 just as Admiral Chan Chak vas brought on board with a bullot round in his wrist. A11 his party voro fittal out as well as possible into dry clothes and the 2nd MTB Flotilla proccoded at 22 knots for Mirs Bay on various course and well off shore. The sorchlight of a destroyer or cruiser vos soon well to scnwerd at one tim and what apponrod to ba a rod rockot was fired, but no cont let was made with enery and unor Admirel Chan Chrk's instructions tho flotilla nchored off Pong Chau Island whon Mr. F.W.K. wont shore undor covor of monod Louis guns and brought off tho hoad man to confor with the Admiral. Tho Admiral thus roccivcd information that the small harbour of Nem O was froo of Japanose and that tho Chinoso guerilles would mcot him there and oscort the party through tho Japenesc lines to the Chinoso Arity. The Flotilla then prococded to Nam-0: moot- ing thoro (fortunatoly but apparently quito fortuitously) Carrador Hugh Montague, R.N. (Retd.), loto S.N.0. Abordoon, now in launch C 410 which had run aground entoring Nam 0. The Flotilla proccoded to lon stores and arris, eventually scuttling all boots just before daylight on Docabor 26th. It is regretted that tho scuttling could not take place in water louper than 2 fathos but there was not much time as it was most important to got the party and stores all on shore before daylight when Japanese roconnaissance might have spotted them.

By scuttling the oporations of the 2nd MTB Flotillat sea were brought to a close but the personnel ccntimio ncross Ching, first under Commndor Montaguo and lator under my command, rooching Rangoon on February 14th, 1942, and placing themselves at the disposal of Commodoro Burr Coast in defence of that port which was ovocnated lator on arch 8th.

From those operations of old type 1938 Scott Paine boats the following points of oakmoss- o.orgo for rectification.

The ongines are too noisy. The silent auxiliary engine for slow spood work is essential.

Gins, if possible, should be contrally situated and near to the control officer.

Boots should have officiunt smoke producing apparatus (0.8. ope ratus).

Boots should be able to firo torpedoes forward and from a stopped position.

Tho 18" Mark VIlI torpedoo's divo to an initial dopth of 40 ft. boforo taking up depth setting. 40 ft. is much too great an initial divo.

Depth charges for use by fast MIB's should be fitted with shallow water pistols. The Mark VII depth charcos in uso would not explode undur 45 ft. which was too great a depth for cortain work.

The use of TB's for troop or ammunition carrying is possible but not vory desirable as MTB's aro too lightly built, nor is their power of renoouvro sufficient.
